fact is, this belafonte/jay beef has been going on in hip hop forever. there has always been a divide. is rap art or politics? as much as i hate to admit it, hip hop made its choice a longtime ago. with the puffys ,master p's, jays. there are those, who feel rap should be used for social activism, and those who feel music is an artform, and leave the politics to the politicans and activists. i mean, jay has always been a capitalist. his music is about capitalsm. his a former drug dealer for goodness sake who sold drugs to poor black people. he probably a cold hearted business man. this beef aint new.

if anyone can see this, is the activism using hip hops failure to obscure maybe its own failure.

Sun rises in the East
We need to bring back Public Enemy, KRS One, Xclan and the rest of the socially politically conscious groups back to the forefront especially now that the economy is horrid, people dying, youth not doing anything, etc. it's about thar time
