Forget that!!!! There are some things that religion can't fix.

I went to a psychotherapist for a little while a couple of years ago. It helped me put some things in perspective.

Sometimes you need an outside person's opinion because your friends and family are automatically going to be biased...

(my bad sir... this was for the male posters. )

No it's not weak, but I do feel most professional services do not cater to black people, yet alone black men. I think black males can only get the best counseling from other black males and that can be difficult to find. Not to mention regular therapy is costly. A pastor or some other notable male figure in the community is the best bet. Contrary to popular belief, a GOOD pastor can give great advice without it being an overly religious conversation. It's just a matter of finding the right person.

Hell no.

Some of our brothers need it more than any other "group" and don't even realize it unfortunately.

We're supposedly "weak" if we have angry black man moments, weak if we're the silent brooding types, weak if we're over the top friendly personality wise etc if you listen to what some say.

I concur, a cac shrink in a coat aint best suited especially when they can't relate to our struggle. Black men need to get back on some brotherhood shyt where we have mentors and father figures we trust.
