My point is that there is no such thing as a white jew.

There are jews who are racially white from Eastern European countries.

Whether they are original jews or not is a separate discussion. They've been integrated into Israeli society for decades.

I always thought it was a religion, but folks take it as a race and an ethnicity. Some people classify themselves as Jewish and aren't even religious; Jerry Seinfeld for instance.

Okay…so what make someone ethnically/racially a Jew?

It's a religion but it isn't an ethnicity. Being Jewish is passed down from the mother. So if your mom is Jewish then so are you.
So let's say your granddad is black and his wife was Jewish then they had your mom. Let's then say your dad is black. Then you are still Jewish but black. Unless you have your kids with another Jewish person they won't be Jewish. This is why some people think Jewish is an ethnicity because they marry each other so their kids can also be Jewish.

But any ethnicity can be Jewish as long as the mom is Jewish. You can be Chinese and Jewish. It's very rare but it can happen. Since Jews are supposed to be God's chosen people it makes sense for their religion to say not everyone can be Jewish.

Now there are less orthodox Jewish denominations that allow non Jewish born people to be Jewish. But the OG Jews don't allow that.

Basically, what i'm getting from this is. The issue is very complicated, and rather than getting outraged at people, you should start a dialog instead.
