Runaway Love (Ludacris song) - Wikipedia

I was looking up Ludacris catalogue when it was announced he was doing a Versuz to see his biggest records and I was shocked when I saw that runaway love with Mary peaked at number 2 on the billboard hot 100:ohhh:. I remember 2007 in music and I remember hearing that song a lot but I don’t recall it being THAT big. Come to find out it woulda it hit number one if it wasn’t blocked by Justin Timberlake at the peak of his powers with What goes around which was a massive fukking record

the questions I have are

1.)Is this the biggest “socially conscious” hip hop song ever? If not what is? Have we ever had a number one song on the hot 100 with this type of subject matter?

2.)Why was this able to cross over to the mainstream in a way other songs really couldn’t?

The year 3030
i was thinking changes but that didn't make top 10...highest on BB was 32

guess it might be

probably was able to cross over others by sheer luck :yeshrug:

i don't really get how certain songs get over, over others.

From the modern era or all time? If it's all time then no not even close. Post 2000 maybe but In sure there's higher charting conscious rappers. Also depends on what you mean by "conscious". B.o.b by OutKast has conscious lyrics :manny:
