Is Marijuana really a gateway drug?

Well I don't think you'll meet someone whose first drug was anything harder then Weed or Alcohol...

Weed definitely makes you more open to other drugs... I think this is more specific to the "Say no to drugs" generation. Those of us who are 30 or younger have grown up seeing anti drug ads on tv, magazines, etc... So as children we always had the attitude that we'll never try drugs and we overrate how bad they really are...

How many people have said they would never do drugs and then tried weed when they got a little older? It is the same way with other drugs AFTER you've smoked weed.. You realize, that wasn't so bad, Im fine... I guess i'll try this too, whats the worse that can happen?

The problem is the disinformation out there... if we were more honest about drugs, pros and cons... I think the "drug problem" in America would be non existent... It wouldn't be a problem...

Obviously... Most people aren't gonna try Heroin, Crack, or Meth, unless they are really stupid... But other drugs are fair game to weed smokers in my opinion...

I smoke weed, but the only other drug I've tried was lean.

I have no interest in any harder drug or different type of high. Tried lean twice, didn't really like it.

I'm good with some kush and nice cigar from time to time.

I think it is and at the same time, not necessarily. There are good arguments for it on both sides.

90% of fiends, junkies, drug addicts will tell you that they started by smoking weed at 1st then their drug use escalated and started to try other drugs.

At the same time, there is a lot of people that smoke marijuana that don't do other drugs. They are happy just smoking bud and don't go on to become junkies.

I've also seen it with people throughout my life. I've seen people go from weed to coke and heroin and I've seen people that just smoke weed and don't do other drugs.

What are ur thoughts?

They have done studies that proved marijuana isn't a gateway drug but that alcohol is...

And I can say from first hand experience that as long as I've been smoking, I've never had the desire to try anything other than weed I don't even smoke cigs

A wino doesn't become a wino by smoking a blunt.....alcohol did that. People never speak on those addicts who became addicts by looking for something more intense then sippin the bottle. Weed is a plant that actually brings more benefits that burdens, yet is only labeled as a drug due to the lack of profits it can bring in for those same folks who make drinking look harmless. Weed gets a negative connotation only to get folks to revert to the harmful items such as liquor and cigarettes. Most cigarette smokers only smoke cigarettes as a substitute for weed due to fear of a drug test. Something that can be some beneficial to the medical field can't be that damn bad.

So true breh. Ive smoked weed for years and knew the effects of any other drug and was never really interested in em. Both times I strayed away from weed I was drunk and down for whatever. First time was coke and the 2nd was molly. Coke wasnt for me...but that molly? have a nikka feelin like .Only other thing I wanna try is shrooms (only once though) to see what a psychadelic trip is like. After that im done with everything but weed. Already gave the molly up. Its a good drug for awhile but u gotta quit that shyt before u get seriously addicted (which is EXTREMELY easy)
