I was thinking about this

Pros

1) He's the most popular member of the most popular/arguably best rap group ever
2) He does have classic songs
3) One of the best flows/deliveries ever, possibly the best

Cons

1) No classic albums
2) Sharp decline in skills for a period before he gained it back
3) Outshined by Redman all through the Black Album
4) Multiple members within his group made better albums than him

A disappointment just based off the fact that he doesnt have a classic album. I think RZA and Ghost surpassed him years ago in terms of popularity too

Nah, I don't think so. Meth is the only member that you can walk up to random people on the street and ask who he is and more will know than won't. My dad is 74 and knows who Method Man is. My Aunt is 65, never listened to rap, knows that dude lol. Ghost is more popular amongst rap fans/hip hop heads.

Tical is one of the most underrated albums in Hip Hop history and it got overshadowed by the first GZA, Rae and Ghost solo's

So maybe you have a point....

Tical ain't a classic now?

Not to me. It's a good album. 3.5/4 mics but it's in no way a classic. It has classic singles and some dope records but some really skippable songs.

People have a tendency to call everybody's first album classic.

Damn. Good question man, it feels like a cop out answer but I'd say both.

He underachieved a bit due to laziness I think. .. but it's almost hard for me to hold that against him because he was in a group full of straight killers on the mic.

At the same time Meth is damn near the perfect emcee, the flows, the way he carries himself, his look (PAUSE) like if I were asked what is an emcee I'd find a pic of Meth circa 1994ish.
