i have a nighthawk ac1900. All my lights are on except the Internet light. I have my modem plugged into the router and my laptop can get on the Internet if I plug it into one of the ports but my wifi is non-existent. Neither of the 2 networks I have set up can be found when I scan for them.

If I run a cable betwen one of my LAN ports and the Ethernet port the LAN indicator lights up but not my internet light. I've cycled power on and off of both the modem and router and I've tried resetting the router to no avail.

I don't know what else to do. Luckily someone has their wifi unsecured so I'm able to still watch tv lol.

Edit- I've tried logging onto the router thru Firefox, chrome and IE and I keep getting "this page cannot be displayed"

The post is confusing for me but maybe because it's real late.

So you don't have access to the Web right? WiFi isn't showing up, and wired modem-to-laptop works button not wired through the router?

If that's the case seems like you've boiled down the issue to the router. You've mentioned a reset. Sometimes a router has two way resets, one usually being to clear the nvram by holding the reset button for X amount of time. I'd suggest the latter. I don't own this router though.

Do you get a LAN network IP wired up? You mentioned the lights coming on so those are being detected. If you do get one, run a ping test to the gateway. If not, try setting a static IP to your last known setup with a proper IP and gateway settings. Run a ping there to your gateway and look for any response. This is just something I would do to see if there's a capable transmission between client and gateway.

You can also try to do a full recovery. I don't know the specifics in your hardware but you can more than likely put the router into some kind of recovery mode and use a tftp client to transmit firmware and reset that usually resets the nvram too.

:mindblown: Forgot to mention, I'm a step above being a moron when it comes to this. I'm still searching for troubleshooting steps for the Internet light being out. I'm close to just going to buy a new router.

Do a 30-30-30 reset to fully clear out NVRAM.
  1. Hold down a pin in your reset hole for 30 seconds
  2. While the pin is still held down, unplug your router for 30 seconds (keep pin held down)
  3. While the pin is still held down, plug your router back in. Keep pin held down for another 30 seconds.
  4. Try to log in the router with your factory default login.

You should be holding the pin down for 90 seconds continuously for steps 1-3.

well if you can't see your ssid , it's possible the router is set to hide the ssid. If you can't get internet from the modem to the router but can with the router to laptop then you could have a modem thats locked to one mac address.. reset the modem or clone your laptops mac address to the routers. check your dns settings.. as a last resort, hard reset the modem and router.

I tried typing the ssid I changed it to and also the default ssid and p/w and neither worked. I bought another router today before going into work but I'll fukk with the old one a little bit more.

Your wireless radio might be dead.
I've had dlink, netgear, and linksys routers burnout the radio from heavily wireless traffic, my current netgear is dying, but the wired routing works.
So I'll say there is probably a high possibility the wireless radio is dead, but there is one thing you can do before you either buy some network cable or a new router, try to change the radio frequency. I know I was having problems with my current on every channel outside of 9, so I had to fix the channel to 9 and I've been good for now, you could hook up to the router with a wire and try different channels and see if they broadcast the SSID.

If no success on any of the channels, you know what the deal is and you make your choice from that.
