I got called a niiger by a homeless white man when I first went to Portland to sign my lease.


I didn’t hear him at first because I had my headphones in and when I realized what he said it took me a minute to process it then I said to myself oh, you’re homeless and crazy…


Put my headphones back in and kept it moving. You have to choose your battles wisely. But yes saying the wrong things can most definitely get you fuucked up over here…

Most of the people who talk shyt to you are trash themselves. So to care what they think and say about you is silly, but you can’t allow people to walk all over you. You can have healthy boundaries, and command respect in a calm, and rational, but firm manner. That tends to piss people off more than you flying off the handle. They want to see you get mad, and know they affected you.

Dharmic faiths recite various mantras and prayers that they believe to have power.

Or even from a secular viewpoint, you can see how hearing something repeatedly over and over again can affect someone's decisions. You see that with ads where a person might not be interested initially but after seeing and hearing the ad multiple times they decide to buy whatever the ad is selling.

Say what you want, but I've used the cautionary tales of Ricky from Boyz N The Hood and O-Dog/Kaine from Menace to Society as examples of what not to do.

I get it that Ferris was looking to pop some shyt, and he was foul for bumping into Ricky like that, but Ricky sealed his fate the second he talked shyt back. Ended in a chain that got him, Ferris and his boys, and Doughboy getting put in the ground.

O-Dog reacted like a bytch just because the store clerk said something about his mother. Kaine's death wasn't directly related to that, but that tape got to the cops, and O-Dog gets locked up over his reaction to words.
