How can technology be racist & sexist when its software & hardware with no human or even remotely physical qualities? Its motherboards, zeros, and ones.

The users, developers, and creators on the other hand... :patrice:

LOL, did you look at the video at least?

Since im resetting my laptop and im on my phone im gonna bide my time and watch this then ill come back with a fully thought out response to the video.
Okay just watched it my point still stands and the woman in the video pretty much summed up my thoughts exactly. Its not the tech itself its the people behind it.

The girl is dumb and 1984's comment still applies. It comes down to the programmer and what is easier. I'm going to subscribe because I enjoy WATCHING her talk.

edit: And honestly, I rarely come across black programmers. I know a handful of techs, etc though. If I ever meet the black programmer the first thing I do is ask him why he started. I only started because I started gaming on PC when I was around 7 years old. That's the typical story for most programmers I encounter. I would love to know the number of black programmers graduating every year, I'm sure it is a very low number. That alone makes it harder to compete with the Asians (India included) and whites that come from crazy school's and were privileged enough to afford the education. And I'm only talking about competition for companies like Google, MS, etc.

I think referring her as a "bish" is a little to much. Where i am from that is definitely not cool. I know many men use that behind our backs.

I would not say that software is racist, but I will say that it is racially biased due to the fact that the demographic of those creating it is so skewed. Face detection software, voice software, motion detectors, fit bits, etc. all work better for lighter skinned peoples(Whites and Asians) because that's who developed it and it works for them. It's not racist because it isn't oppressing one, but it is biased.

You think the framing of primary and secondary relationships between electronics as master/slave relationships is a mistake?

You think the "whiteness" of Silicon Valley is some happy accident?
Nope, whites wanna keep us out of everything
