The GOAT overrated fighting game, yes.

My personal GOAT is and will always be the Mortal Kombats.

And then second place would be Soul Calibur.

Tekken been going downhill since after 5 though 6 was a great game outside of the extended juggles. It went way overboard in Tag 2 with tag launchers and a lot of the fanbase left except for the extreme hardcore. Tekken 7 is a new series low. A lot of iconic characters have been replaced with lame ripoffs or missing altogether. Bruce got replaced by a Thot from the Phillipines, Craig got replaced by a Bane reject, theres a roller skating anime skank, A recycled Maxi design, a boring latin chick, and an Arabic guy with an over the top fighting style.

Street Fighter 2 is the GOAT

Virtua Fighter 4 is the most..... intricate

MvC2 was the "flashiest" when it hit

Mortal Kombat appeals to the most basest of levels

WeaponLord has the most unique but fun fighting system. Would have been GOAT, but it was too opposite to catch on (instead of inputting commands and pushing a button, you HELD DOWN a button and input a command then let the button go). PERFECT blend of Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat otherwise.

If those Melty Blood games/stories would've made an impact somewhere other than Japan they'd be up there 2D wise. But nobody wants to play a game based on anime vampires and robot maids.

Soul Calibur blends ALL these things together. Soul Calibur is the "Ryu" of fighting games.

Tekken 2/5? I'll admit, I had the most fun with it. It was the only game, outside of Virtua Fighter, that made you MASTER one character. Shieit, my ANNA Williams was scary. But was it better than a lot of other games in what they were good at? Nah. Nina and King combos got :gladbron:s, somebody got flashy with Yoshimitsu or busted out a Marduk.

But it was never just....... :francis:
