do yourself a favor and pick up zelda ocarina of time if you get a 3ds. if you're into adventure and puzzle games then you'll enjoy ocarina of time. it's one of my favorite games of all time.

Smash Bros you can use the stiff joystick on the right-hand side to let off smash attacks. Only game I've used where it has a function.

Yeah check out your local Craigslist and Let go apps to get a cheap DS.

As for games the 3DS is a JRPG machine with lots of great titles in other genres as well.
