exactly, a lot of the beats on this album don't sound anywhere as great as they did in 2003

"what more can i say" is another
"dirt off your shoulders"
"change clothes"
"my 1st song"
^none^ of these have held up well
plus, jay z didn't even really retire. i can't take away the fact that jay was spittin' on most of these tracks but the album hasn't aged well at all

That's the main thing that hurts this album.
If you're retiring from rap, retire then...Don't pop up every 3 months spittin guest feature verses
on other rappers albums.

i can vividly remember how many people were ridin' so hard (pause) for this album too. myself included
I agree w/ you brehs about the retirement thing. This album would've been a great way to go out. At least disappear for a while to have some feel of a retirement lol

yup, it makes the album just a vanity project and a quick cash in
but more importantly, it takes away the the album's whole meanin', but aside from that, the album really hasn't held up well anyway

only jay z album i can put on and really vibe out to still is reasonable doubt; part of the blueprint is cool and i rode hard (pause) for that album back then but now aside from a few songs like "heart of the song", "song cry", "momma loves me", "breathe easy", and "u don't know" i'm good
but ain't nothin' like crusin' late at night and listenin' to this
