The center had been the weakest position in the NBA for long time. However, with the emergence of great and promising big men around the league, the future of the center position looks bright. You got future stars/superstars like Dwight, Bynum, Hibbert, Cousins, Monroe, Gasol, Noah, Horford and Hawes. Then you got proven vets like Bogut, Chandler, Gotrat, and Jefferson.

At the same time, the shooting guard position is getting weaker. All the great shooting guards are over 30. Kobe, Wade, Allen, Johnson, And Ginobili. Brandon Roy was supposed to be the best shooting guard in the L by next year, but blame the Blazers (speaking of the blazers imagine if Greg Oden was healthy). While lottery picks like Wes Johnson and Evan Turner didn't help strengethening the postion at all.

The future of the shooting guard in the L is in the hands of Harden, Ellis, and Gordon.

all power forwards who can play center.

Monroe is a power forward too

Why should the Blazers be blamed for Brandon Roy's knees?

they didnt help him rehab properly. And since Pryzbilla and Oden had knee issues too, you have to look at them and wonder what are they doing.

Now who else wanna fukk with Hollywood Court?
It's actually on the road to recovery, I think SG is currently the weakest position, once you get past Kobe and Wade, it's really just eh.

Atleast once you get past Dwight and Bynum there are several quality big men, it's just that there really aren't any true superstars at the position (sorry Dwight).

Actual centers (all under 30) -

M. Gasol
Hibbert
Howard
Bynum
B. Lopez
Boogie
Pekovic (15ppg, 9rpg 54% in 35 starts)
Gortat
Bogut
McGee

And the young guys that just came in that have legit center size Valanciunas, Kanter, Drummond we'll have to wait and see but the position is better than SG, currently and long term.

You replace Harden with Pekovic and your team wins the title.

I think the center position has got a bad rap for a few years now. A lot of those guys the threadstarter mentioned as well as Brook Lopez are decent to above average big men. And some of them could have played in the so called great 90's era of big men. But quick question, after Dream Shaq Robinson Ewing and Zo where were all these great HOF big men that everyone talks about. It's not like every team had a 20 and 10 beast back then. Hell, didn't Jon Koncak get the biggest contract ever at one point. Dwight Bynum Demarcus and both Gasols may not be all time greats but they definitely have Hall of Fame type talent.
