I'm not excited about it. Will probably watch at a much later date on a lazy Saturday night.

Story should continue to be told, but I never was into the black trauma films.

Saw Women of the Movement, that was really good.

I don’t think I’ll see this.

I was against the idea of this film at first, but then I realized these kids literally don't know about this

So I'm not against it anymore and I hope they watch it, but its not for me

not watching personally, but i appreciate films like this being made. White folks are quick to rewrite history if we let them think we forgot about certain details.

I don't think I will, but I completely understand folks like brehs in here taking their kids and whatnot for the learning experience.

Personally, I'm tired of the only black movies that get any push being about us suffering from racism, poverty, or some combination of both.

But I think what's especially off putting for me is that the ads I've seen for it seem to presenting this as if they believe presenting this from his mother's point of view is a new angle that'll make people see how fukked up this was. Sadly, I think this is going to be another black movie about black trauma that just ends up preaching to the choir.

I probably will but at the same time, I feel a documentary would prove more useful and I understand why a lot of guys would not want to watch this.
The Beauchamp fella who is one of the writers did a doc on it. shyt was jarring. But with him writing the movie should be good stuff. I'm watching. :manny:

I randomly decided to watch this movie at like 2am. No idea why but Emmett had crossed my mind and I decided to watch this.

I hate the term "trauma porn." Its not trauma porn. Unfortunately, this is our history. And as much as cacs try and rewrite shyt, more of these stories need to be told. Not only as reminders as to what happened, but they are necessary for the next generation.

This movie was beautifully done. Acting was superb. It was heavy, obviously. But it's a necessary story.

Personally, I hope Hollywood does more of these movies so demonic ass white people can be reminded of the diabolical actions of their forefathers. I hope we see a Mary Turner movie at some point.

Show your kids....... the movies....... the documentaries....... the shorts....... all of it.......
Apparently the series Women of the Movement was really good, too. I might watch that tonight.

Such a necessary story. It pisses me off when nikkas talk about "trauma porn." This is the fukkin reality. This is what Black people went through. Keep these stories relevant so white people (and everyone else) don't forget.

I would hate for these stories to be forgotten by the next generation because Black people don't wanna see "trauma porn" and everyone eventually forgets about everything and these stories fade into the background. Smh
