I'm a universal Apple user, but don't have a desktop computer. Don't *really* need one. But I definitely could use the storage. And I already do have a ton of stuff on the cloud.

But I look at prices and see Best Buy has a 21 1/2-inch iMac for $999. Simply put, is it worth it? When I put it against Windows desktops, it seems reasonably priced. Whereras, the laptops and tablets that Apple puts out are soooo much more than their Windows counterparts.

Again, I could use the storage ... and it seems like a similar version of the MacBook Pro is worth $2,500-plus. Why? Asking as pretty much a novice. (You could probably tell this from my question, which is why I ask.)

No computer without a SSD/Flash storage is worth it imo.

MacOS Sierra is not made for HDDs. It's going to be a painful user experience and Apple honestly shouldn't even sell that device anymore.

I like macOS much more than Windows so when it's time for me to upgrade I'll just deal with the prices. For you I would see if you could find a used 2015 512gb MacBook Pro for a good price. Or if you want a new one, the non-touchbar MacBook Pro 2016 is always on sale at Best Buy.

If you can wait they'll be new iMacs this year. But if you can't get one with an ssd.

Desktop macs....nah we off that :camby:(should have never been on it it in the first place, to be honest)

Back when I was in college, my rooomate bought and iMac for like $3000 (he got the extra storage, ram, and video card). I used the same $3K and built myself a monster PC that allowed for three monitor gaming.

Macs are only for laptops. I repeat, Macs are only for laptops. It's PC for desktops all the way. You simply get more with a PC for the same money as an iMac.

Plus 21" for the monitor. What is this, 2007? :picard:

As an all Apple guy I can honestly say.....no. None of Apples products are reasonably priced when compared The the competition, especially when you start to break down each feature. What you get from Apple is access to specific software that you won't have on windows. Whether or not you can live without those programs is up to you.
Also, if all you need is extra storage why are you looking for an entirely new computer? Which macbook do you have that can't be upgraded?

No Mac is "reasonably priced" if that's the angle you are coming in from.

Just get a MacBook Pro. This isn't a game console and regular hard drives as your main storage device in 2017 is ridiculous.

Yes. I bought one last year or 2 I think...

shyt still runs like new. I use it for photoshop, Maschine, and a couple other things

I have Windows PC as well but I JUST got through fixing that bullshyt and would only use it for work...

Gonna get a mac air when I start school again (I got a macbook but it took a shyt. It still works, just not as well but it's about 7/8 years old)

I fix so many pc's on the side that I am Mac forever now.
