The problem is a lot of people guaging just hi much are basing it around radio play or how much whip appeal as if that's the only time black people listen to music. He, like many artists who were more about lyrics didn't really concentrate on that aspect of the game, doesn't mean people weren't fukkin with it.
One of the first people that I heard mention em in conversation in a mainstream context was my home girl. She's was with the party scene like anybody else but she also listened to real MC's as well.
I got put in to em in like 97 by other nikkas who rapped because he was a fukking beast.
