I don't blame them: I'm sure they'd rather dodge oncoming traffic by crawling behind on other lanes. We still have the occasional guy with a scooter who'll swerve into a tree or two and end up in permanent dislocations, or one of those dudes who'd be more careful with his bicycle in a neighborhood with other bike riders.
The new stuff is actually really confusing as it just looks like something you might come across under the bus, when you stop looking for a way to get to the other side of the street. Here is a simple map of where the yellow arrows point. It turns out both sides of the Street and a few other areas along its length are painted yellow.
We're told this makes it easier to navigate around the new green arrows. It's a fine idea for sure -- it allows some of the old streetscape to be reconfigured into something more efficient. The new yellow arrows also add some green traffic lights - for example at the intersection of W. 7th and Broadway.
The real problem is that these new green arrows seem to have completely disconnected from the old yellow arrow design, so the yellow arrows are the wrong color for each of these streets.
