Is the NOI actually a useful organization for the advancement of Black people?

Put aside the religious aspect for a second I won't speak on that.

Has the NOI actually done anything to help Black folks advance in this country?

Did they do anything during the George Floyd situation in 2020?

Are they doing anything productive now?
I'm not and never been Muslim but they're they only religious entity I've ever learned of to resonate with Black men.

Is there some alternative you'd like to tell us about?

Speaking as a Christian, I always felt that black people (In America) relationship with islam was much more nuanced than it was given credit for

Not that I've seen. They do have this good food spot in Glen Arden (I think).

But it's sexist just like any other religious organization so it impossible for them to do massive amounts of good. Any organization that's foundation is oppressed will never be for the greater good of humanity.

In what ways?

You have to consider the situation and climate to which they rose to prominence mid-late 60s and the late 80s-early 90's

I'll go with the latter cause I've mingled with brothers more on that end. The main reason in my experience, having chatted up with brothers as to why they joined was

Emphasis on Community
Structure/Conduct for which they can follow to better their current position in life
and like most individuals who join anything, a sense of purpose that they weren't getting or feeling at the time.

Now I don't care for Farrakhan personally, but I'm not gonna look down at a brother for trying to find a sense of purpose and ways he can enrich his life and those around him. Yes I understand the relationship that Islam has with African countries, but I'm not gonna solve that issue by berating a brother in the middle of Ohio.
