I think he wants it that way (No Backstreet)

I’ve never heard him identify as one of us or talk about our issues:yeshrug:

eff em

This is extremely false. Rock always makes it a point to remind folks he's black. He once called out those racist cacs Opie and Anthony on their radio show for some slick anti-black shyt. I remember someone on here posting it.

Also I remember Rock when he wrestled and he was in the Nation of Domination (who I fukked with). So I always indentified Rock with being black.

I can't hate on The Rock with the racial stuff.

I think that's it's much easier to claim "black" if you're a black/white biracial. You have people with two black parents that are lighter than someone that is half-black/half-white. Plus whiteness isn't an affirmative identify...it's built on exclusion and constantly changes. The Irish weren't even given the full white privilege until 100 years ago. Whiteness only exists to deny blackness; it doesn't stand on its own.

If you are biracial, but neither side is white....it's not as easy (IMO) to just pick a side. None of us would call him black if we didn't know him......I think he's proud of both sides but he would never pick one over the other. Plus, his dad ran away from home as a teenager. Rock's mom was close with her family, so he probably spent a lot more time her people instead of his dad's people. The Samoan identity is strong for him.....if he had grown up in Houston, Philly, New Orleans, Detroit, Atlanta etc., it might have been different too.

@IsThatBrothaMouzone?

1. What race/ethnicity did you assume The Rock/Dwayne Johnson was before you knew anything about his history?

2. If The Rock/Dwayne Johnson ever gets arrested in the future what race do you think they will have him on his police report? If you recall for Tiger Woods police report they put black for his race.

He PAWGed in He Got Game and also in Flight.

His wife in he got game was played by Lonette McKee and she is biracial.
I might be wrong but in Flight his character met an addict played by Kelly Reilly. They weren't married.

Denzel understood that black women bought tickets and took black men with them to the theaters - vice versa
Young black actors should follow that
