I feel like people just obsessed with mob movies/television cause this shyt MAAAD overated to me. it does not stand up to The Wire or Breaking Bad imo, now it doesnt mean its BAD but this show has GOAT status to people so yeah im gonna nitpick.

it might be apples and oranges to compare it to movies but like just other mob type genres are MUCH better, no season of sopranos is close to like Goodfellas or The first two Godfathers or even Casino. shyt Gottii with armand assante might be better. it fell off a cliff the last couple seasons, the ending was pure trash. all them epiosdes with tonys dreams that was trying to be deep but they didnt mean anything, felt like chase was always trying to be pseudo intellectual with it but hes not that good at symbolism and metaphor

What stands out to me is the dialogue and the characters. I haven't seen any show that gives depth and realness to characters without the overt caricature of a being villain. Its also one of the funniest shows that's not a comedy ever.[/

It's weird but I really didn't love it until I stopped viewing it under the guise of being the greatest show ever. Once I just sat back and took it in without any expectations I really did appreciate how well rounded the characters are and how they made so many matter and the changing nature of all the different relationships on the show. It's in my top-5 even though it's not touching The Wire or Breaking Bad to me.

It's a great show...especially if you like dialogue & character driven aspects...

The people i come across who don't like Sopranos is that....they went in to the show expecting murder chaos every episode for some reason....

Very good show.... I could see how someone going back and watching could think it's not so great. I watched it in real time so I appreciate it and it was one of the first shows where I didn't know if I was suppose to root for or hate the main character... Also it was one of the 1st major shows that dealt with mental health
