NBA ratings will never compare to the 90's because there are more channels. The NBA is more populr now then ever, ratings dont indicate nothing. This year's playoffs were maybe the best ever?Of course they will say it dip 1% but ratings dont indicate quality.Nielsen boxes are flawed anyway but thats another topic

Blackhawks are the biggest draw for the NHL.
Los Angeles may rank ahead of Chicago in terms of city population, but the Blackhawks would give a much bigger boost to television ratings. When the Kings won the Stanley Cup in 2012, they generated the lowest ratings in five years. Last year, Chicago won the most-watched Stanley Cup Final in recorded history.

NHL Playoffs 2014: Road To Stanley Cup Drawing Strong Interest From Big Cities?

Game 7 of the WCF was the highest rated NHL game ever for NBC.
Game 7 of the Kings/Blackhawks NHL Western Conference final earned a 3.2 overnight rating on NBCSN Sunday night, the highest overnight ever for an NHL telecast on the network — including the Stanley Cup Final. The previous high was a 3.1 for Game 3 of last year’s Stanley Cup Final between the Blackhawks and Bruins.

Sadly, yes....

In markets like LA and NY where most folks are watching Knicks, Lakers, Clippers, Nets, THEN Yankees and Mets, Dodgers and Angels, most parachute in when the playoffs start in hockey...it's sad but true

As a Ranger fan I would've liked to have seen Chi in the finals. Would've been 2 of the original 6 in finals.

Plus its in LA, they don't give a fukk about hockey. Bunch of band wagon fans.

It could be close but i doubt it. I'm sure those teams are popular in ny and la and the fact it's two major markets and the finals will garner more interest. I'll tune in on games that don't clash with the heat. But I think nba might do more. Rematch of last year, heat fans and heat haters watching hoping they lose, star power LeBron brings to table, spurs not a major market but have their fans. Plus other markets checking for them, such as all over Texas. Nba just feels as a more intriguing finals. But I'm no hockey expert so I don't know their stars. I know Kane but his team lost. I think nba got this.
