Listening to this album right now, and man it's just amazing just how relevant this album still is and how well it still sounds :wow:

It's crazy how they recorded this album in only 6 weeks :damn:

This is an album's album; from the songwriting to the sequencing, to the arranging to the producing, and to the songs. Everything about it is on point, with the exception of maybe "Something 2 Dance 2", but 1 out of 13 songs ain't bad at all. :manny:

how was it recorded in 6 weeks (not that that's a particularly short amount of time), when a lot of the songs were on Panic Zone?

They mentioned that it was recorded in 6 weeks on the Vh1 documentary on N.W.A.

Panic Zone? Panic Zone is a song all by itself on the N.W.A. and the Posse album. Are you talking about the N.W.A. and the Posse album?

Because if so, only two songs from that album were used for the Straight Outta Compton album and both were remixes, "8 Ball" remix and "Dope Man" remix. Boyz In Da Hood was later used again on Eazy's first album but was remixed as well.

So's it's not impossible that it wasn't recored in 6 weeks, it's just amazing how this album that would go on to be very influential was only recored in such a short amount of time. Also considering how long it takes Dr. Dre to record albums now.

that whole EP is usually referred to as "Panic Zone"

and like I said, 6 weeks really isn't that short. how Dre takes his time now that he's Mr Super Producer is kinda besides the point. it was a different time for the music in general, and those involved. they were a bunch of young cats hustlin and trying to get their music out. they really didn't have the means to "take their time"
