shyt, by this time next year you might be able to get a 4tb for that much
I don’t know what the fukk they were thinking giving Seagate sole ownership to make upgradeable memory :francis: They better hope it was worth it.

At least open it up to other manufacturers so people can see some deals.

Is the console a failure, no.

It’s a cheaper ultimatum to the series x.

If there where more Xbox exclusive that actually utilize the series x power then the console would be a complete waste.

Right now it’s not hurting MS but 2-3 years from now the console will be almost useless for playing nex gen.

They literally exist to be cheap as fukk. They cost as much as a 2013 console new. That’s the whole point.
If the things had any perceived value they'd still be selling in the secondhand market somewhat close to retail. The reality is they're selling for Xbox One S prices.

It's not that people ain't buying them it's that they have a resell value worse than an last generation android phone. The secondhand market tells you a lot about how people value stuff.

Again a Series X used is pretty close to the full retail price on both eBay and Facebook Marketplace. A Series S really isn't. The fact that Microsoft themselves needs to markdown a device they had worse margins on and lose money on says it all.

They should have just copied PlayStation and put out the Series X digital as the second cheaper option.

Nothing sells used for MSRP unless there is a shortage. There is no shortage cause they are cheap and easy to make. Right now used they are selling for around 15% off of MSRP. That’s actually good for electronics that aren’t experiencing a shortage.

iphone 14 MSRP is $900. They are currently selling used on ebay for around $700

That’s 25% off.

I guess Iphone 14 has no “perceived value” :stopitslime:

Because Series X demand is still higher than supply. As soon as supply catches up those prices will go lower.

Series S was the best selling console for the holidays two years in a row. As PS5 and Series X hit supply shortages, Microsoft was still able to get people into “next gen” through the series S.

The S has been very successful thus far. Without it, Playstations lead over Xbox would be much greater right now.

The sole reason for the Series S's existence is to pad the numbers so console warriors such as yourself can bring up sales numbers without specifying which "next gen" console you're talking about

On some, "Microsoft moved ___ Series X|S consoles this quarter" while failing to mention most of those consoles cost less than a Tracfone

Phil out here playing chess while Sony stans play checkers :ohhh:

The Series X ain't out much because it cost them too much too make. That's why it's a limited supply. Whereas it cost them hardly much to make the S and their money maker is Gamepass so why fix what ain't broken.

The Series X is no longer in limited supply. It’s now easy to get one in almost every shop along with the S

Console revenue down 13% cause they gotta put this bullshyt on sale to move units. It was a bad idea.
Sony introducing the $399 discless PS5 was a master stroke.

Microsoft had no idea that was coming. They thought Sony was going to introduce a $499 PS5 and that was it, so their plan was to introduce a cheaper $200 next gen console and steal those who couldn’t afford the 499 version.

Sony killed that dream. For just an extra $100 you can buy a PS5 with the same power as the 499 version and way more powerful than the 299 Series S, basically killing it dead on arrival.
