when other n1ggas don't rap it ain't a rap group, if ?uestlove could spit a hot 16 then it would be a rap group. Eric B and Rakim were not a rap group

therefore it can only be called a group or a solo act with a band

not a rap group

Malik B and Dice Raw are members too. They only rap.

Thought and Malik were like fukkin' Tip and Phife for the first 4 albums. Definitely a rap group.

As far as consistency, no. Other groups have had better temporary runs than them. Public Enemy, EPMD, ATCQ, De La Soul, Outkast, Mobb Deep and Wu-Tang all had better peaks than them to me, but nobody is fukking with their consistency of quality. They've been dropping heat for 20 years now...crazy.

The Roots aren't a group :heh:

Questlove has just as much input into the sound and overall package that you hear as Thought does. Not to mention like someone else said, for the first 4 albums they had Malik B and Dice Raw spittin as well

last time i hear they left bro

but the last roots album i heard was game theory so i could be wrong

:manny:

Dice was on like 4-5 joints on the last album. And Mailk was on like 4 on Game Theory. But before those, dude and Thought were on pretty much every track together for those first few albums.

They should actually bring dude back. I know he's going through some shyt, but they were unseen when he was with there.
