Is there a Trayvon Martin effect in the music right now?

I'm legit hearing more references and sonic darkness in the music that seems to reflect this bubbling of the rising tension the black community is reeling with when it comes to these social issues.

There seems to be a lot of cynicism, calling out of white supremacy and an overall lack of tolerance for any sort of fukkery going on. Not to mention we're at the ever-expanding heights of social media and people don't forget ANYTHING.

Are we in a new era?

Migos name dropped Mike Brown & Sandra Bland on a track...it was kind of in passing but i thought it was cool to hear them namedrop them and say they dont want to be a victim...other than that i am not hearing it at all.
