At face value those numbers seem pretty good, right? That is until you look at his shooting percentages
FG - 36%

These numbers come after his opening night game where he looked like a new player and was actually hitting jumpshots, but regression to the mean is too real and he's been absolutely dreadful in his last 10 games, he's shooting 32% from the field and 9% from three.....9 fukking percent from three. How the fukk is it possible to be a professional basketball player since the age of 15 and have no semblance of a jumpshot? The fukk does this dude do in the offseason, does he even bother working on his game at all? I remember back in the day it was Ason Kidd, leave the J out his name, but even he was shooting better from three by his 5th season he was up to 37%, meanwhile Rubio is regressing from three as the league moves towards it
The Wolves are at a point now where they start 3 non-factors on offense between Rubio, Prince and KG, but at least those other two guys have the excuse of being older and are there for their veteran presence. The whole point of having someone like Rubio is so he can orchestrate easy looks for guys, the problem is that their two franchise guys are players that do not need someone to spoon feed them baskets and create for them. The Wolves are 21st in the league in offensive efficiency, so the ground people used to have to stand on with him is gone. They are dead last in threes made and attempted and 25th in the league in 3 point percentage, and now they have a guy like Towns who will need shooting around him. Rubio makes them better defensively but they're still 17th in the league and his own offense holds them back so much, you needed him more when Kevin Love & Pekovic were there and thrived in PnR situations but now he's just an anchor.
When I watch them play I can't help but be disgusted, as soon as this bum gives up the ball the Wolves are playing a man down on offense because nobody will guard him off the ball. It's like the other team has a Box-1 except the 1 doesn't give a shyt what he does and is free to roam around and defend the other players. He's a ball dominant player that can't shoot, the direction the league is heading you cannot have a player like him and be successful, every last playoff team has a PG that can hit the three at a somewhat respectable clip, even Raul Neto a dude who can't shoot is hitting 35% because it's a necessity at this point. Oh but look at his assists, look at the flashy passes, the wolves are better! The day they get rid of him and bring in a real PG is the day the Wolves take the next step, until then he's going to weigh them down with his shyt shooting, notice they actually looked like a basketball team when people thought he could shoot.
