Starccade almost had their moment with 97 if it wasn't for the shyt tier booking and Hoegan being a bytch about the finish. The thing with Starrcade is that there was really no guidance to make it more than what WM was offering:
- It felt like a regular WCW PPV rather than the "big one"
- Most of the matches were forgettable at best
- The only time Starrcade actually felt legit outside of the mid 80s and 97 was Starrcade 95 and that was because of fukking NJPW and no Hogan
- Superbrawl and Slamboree felt more important imo
Bottom line, WCW can't shake off it's southern roots no matter how hard Biscoff turned the promotion into a Sports Entertainment spectacle. It was wrasslin and there's nothing wrong with such a thing, but the fact remains that WM>>>>>>
Now BFG....

, look Impact put more work into Slammiversary than BFG for me to even give a shyt. Most of the BFG events always feel cheap and forgettable, while Slammiversary felt like the legit competitor.
As somebody mentioned in this thread, Wrestle Kingdom is the main competitor and their best years were during the Omega for the belt years which its hard for me to admit because I hated those years of NJPW being held hostage by the The Elite
