Sagat threw the match to atone for killing Dan's father. Sagat lost to Adon due to being unfocused. Sagat actually beat Ryu and was Dragon Punched by Evil Ryu out of desperation trying to help him up. That was the retcon in Japan but in the U.S Sagat may have still lost
Also, reading about how Sagat lost to Adon and beat Ryu TWICE was also a shocker.

he lost to adon after the ryu fight but came back focused & took his title back.... when he beat ryu twice??? he "technically" lost in street fighter & they finally had their rematch in street fighter 2 & he lost so ryu got that bison fight...
What's Oro's story then?
he a old master that unlocked immortality & sealed his own arm to make fights fair cause hes unbeatable usin both arms.... hes looking for a student to pass his knowledge down to & ryus the only one he sees with the potential so hes secretly manipulatin ryus training....

This is from Sagat's wikia:

Street Fighter Alpha
In the retconned events of Street Fighter Alpha, Sagat enters the tournament to exact his revenge on Ryu, and succeeds. Although pleased that he got his revenge, he somewhat felt empty after the fight. Sagat realized that Ryu didn't give it his all, and he believes Ryu held back. Sagat eventually gave up this vendetta, considering it to be foolish and pointless.
Street Fighter Alpha 2
He then immediately set about tracking Ryu down. He soon caught up to his rival and challenged him to a fight, with Ryu protesting that Sagat had not fully recovered from their last one. Sagat persisted, and won. Afterwards, he couldn't help but feel that the victory was hollow somehow, and realized that Ryu had let him win; after the match, Ryu had not said a word, and merely gave him a mysterious look.

Hahaha yeah, and this is also fcked up:
Street Fighter
Sagat trained Adon, and held the first World Warrior Tournament to prove that he was not only the strongest Muay Thai fighter, but the strongest fighter in the world. Only one fighter managed to reach Sagat: a young martial artist named Ryu. Initially, Sagat was able to pin Ryu, and was sure that he was the winner of the match, even going to help Ryu up. However, Ryu became desperate to win the fight and was accidentally corrupted by the Satsui no Hado and his dark side and executed the Metsu Shoryuken, grievously wounding Sagat and leaving a massive scar across his chest. Sagat swore revenge on Ryu.

Ok, how do you accidentally turn into the evil version of yourself? Sagat goes from happily trying to help up his opponent to getting a massive torso scar and swearing revenge on said guy. Just...damn.

I heard the events of Alpha 1 are actually replaced by Alpha 2 so that storyline wise only alpha 2 and alpha 3 actually occur. Alpha 2 did play more like an upgrade than a sequel though. Lots of things changed in Alpha 3

Sagat is probably the only guys to consistently shoot a fair one. Akuma is just :demonic: he probably cooks people and eats them on his journeys.

Let's not forget Dudley's class. "Let's fight like gentlemen." He even does his gardening with his boxing gloves on. :heh:

I'd make a case for Guile but I don't think I know enough. :patrice:

Guile will do whatever it takes to complete a mission. It's not canon, but in Street Fighter V series, Ken tried to fight Guile while Guile was injured, and Guile threw dirt in his eye and beat his ass.
