im from NYC, spent a lot of time in Syracuse and Rochester, some time in Buffalo, and no time in Albany.

Long answer... yes there is. Short answer... no there isn't. Especially if you're coming in from LA.

If you had to goto Rochester or Syracuse for a few days for a wedding or to see fam or something you could potentially have a great time. The food in upstate / WNY is pretty good. Niagara Falls is right there. Tons of nature/outdoor stuff to do. Nightlife and girls, etc... is a HUGE hit or miss; if you know someone up there it'll be better but coming from a bigger city it's still a joke. Outlet mall shopping not as nice as Woodbury downstate but still can get some fly shyt on the cheap. Lots of great local businesses, you're near the lakes so theres some "beaches" and really nice parks.
But you gotta realize the weather is horrible like 7 months out of the year. Those places are literally dead from Halloween to mid-May with a nice little push of activity around Christmas/New Years. Upstate cities are "gentrifying" now too, not to the degree of bigger cities, and not even in a bad way where people are getting their necks stepped on. People are just staying up there instead of moving, opening some cool small businesses, some really :demonic:hoods are starting to get influx of first gen immigrants who are bringing their own little vibe into the mix and ultimately calming things down. I remember like 10 years ago in Rochester kids would try your door handles when you were parked at a light... drove through the same area back last June and it was totally calm with new businesses on the strip.

Buffalo has the white trash / racist vibe on smash... Rochester's got a little of that but not as much as Buffalo... Syracuse has a lot of that outside of the college town area.

i think more people are staying in these areas and making something out of it because the quality of life (if you can handle the weather) isn't that bad, where as in the past everyone was dying to catch the first flight out of there. there isn't that whole "we're losing" type of vibe up there anymore. Maybe in Buffalo there is but I haven't spent a lot of time there compared to Cuse and Rochester.

I live in Rochester. Ain't really nothing here.

If you do stop by, buy some boss sauce and take it back home. Your people will fall in love with it. People who use to live in Rochester who come back to visit make sure they take boss sauce back home. It goes on basically any meat. Wings, Ribs, Steak Subs, etc.

They sell them in much smaller sizes too:

Where do you live in rochester? I have a lot of fam up there. lake ave area north of 104. i like it up there and it seems to be getting better every time i visit. Out of the 3 cities upstate (Buffalo, Roc, Syracuse) it is definitely the number 1. Feels a little more city'ish than the other two. Still lots of racist white trash on the west-side or confused people with NY Yankee tattoos colored in Italian flag colors, wearing hunting camo and driving a big pickup truck :dahell:

Boss Sauce is nice. Country Sweet too :smugdraper: lots of good italian spots up there :mjpls:

I currently live in Chili but I lived in the West Side for most of my life. Yeah Country Sweet sauce is bomb too. The Country Sweet food spot been out of commission for a minute because they had a fire in that little plaza where the Country Sweet food spot is on Mt.Hope. Most of them spots in that plaza been closed.
