Of course, there's bias and depending on your location, class and culture,. the bias can create favor or disdain towards a particular person or individuals. Let's look at English. In England, the Cockney accent is consider low class amongst white Britons in comparison to those who speak the Queen's English, but will never be perceived as low as... say an immigrant's English(basically barely intelligible with a strong native accent from their homeland) We can all agree that the better English one can speak(especially if one can speak with eloquence from the ruling class)the better one will be perceived(rightly or wrongly).
Since England is the origin of the original language, any variations of the original are generally frowned upon. This case is most evident when British people denigrate American English. Americans are stereotyped as having the worst English amongst all English speaking people, despite having most popular form, due to the popularity of American entertainment industry. In America, anywhere outside of the American south is considered favorable the South(in popular opinion) being possessing the worst English-speaking people on Earth.(IMHO, the worst is a draw between Scottish and Irish with Australians not too far behind). Canadians are looked at more favorably because their English still mimics the original.
Color or Colour
Honor or Honour.....
It doesn't matter(to me)either way. I don't lose sleep over it.
You can say the same thing about Spain and how they talk dog s**t about other Spanish-speaking people around the world. Spaniards have extreme prejudice against other dialects and accents. When you go to Spain, you better speak, at least, with the dialect with the that is native to the area and under any circumstances not speak or write with a street Caribbean accent or dialect anywhere but in the US or the country native to the dialect/accent.
