The reality is this: young people are alienated. Regional culture is slowly becoming a thing of the past and everyone wants to stand out.

You have women who think "travel and pizza" are a personality. You have people who fixate on their race, religion, gender or sexual interests and think that is a personality.

You have educators who arent talking to kids about slavery, capitalism, climate change, etc. Things that were and are existential threats for ALL OF US. Rather, the focus is on individuality and having you as an individual being respected. Respect is something more and more people are starting to feel entitled to rather like it's something that ought to be earned.

If your LGBTQ you can marry whomever you want and express yourself however you want. The law will protect you if you are harmed. especially if you are white. You are not however, entitled to recieving respect from the majority. This is something that you cannot force and if you try, you'll only earn resentment. This is the lesson that these people arent learning. Note that this entitlement often comes from white people and white adjacent black people.
