well old clothes is fine, its more about if they are in bad condition.

and for the other stuff I would say yea if you can afford these things and you dont use it, it makes you a bum. But I also pointed out if he is in an area where he needs a car. Some places you don't need a car. I also said if he is a burden on his parents.
