Its actually very easy. I used to crank them out for Niketalk when we had gif avys. Here's one I did for myself:

I have the whole creative suite for adobe but I only really use one app fulltimr and that's for my cartoon I'm working on..
FOR instance. I struggle trying to cut out an head to place on the original gif posted in this thread. I saw that it was like 73 frames but Photoshop always confused me a bit due to the amount of menus and learning curve. Even shyt like gimp I'm decent in... but y'all right it could be fairly easy but my son won't give me time to go downstairs and work on gifs .. dude is always within 2 feet needing something (17months)

Ulead is simple for those who dontd want to use PS. I only used PS to optimize the avatars and gifs for web use.
