Is Tomb Raider(2001) a good film?

I need this settled. I was passively watching this during work and was watching it on some
it's pretty bad. I mean Angelina Jolie is an excellent Lara Croft

but this film has so many cheesy moments and the plot is bad. It does have a sequel that I know is panned heavily, so I don't need the answer to that.
My question is in 2001 was Tomb Raider seen as a good movie back in the day, a guilty pleasure or maybe something in between?

I think it was somewhere in between; it definitely has it's cheesy moments, but my view on the movie is completely different than when I first saw it in 2001. At the time I liked the movie but I probably was just happy to see Angelina Jolie in the movie, so the plot could've been as cheesy as it gets and it wouldn't have made much of difference to me, but I was like a freshman in high school then.

It's been years since I watched it (probably since the 2000's) and I had the video game too back then.

From what I can remember of the movie, I think it's one of those movies that just didn't age well.

Angelina Jolie is the best thing about the movie.

Yeah it looks pretty old and reminds me of the early 2000’s action movies
I could see this being appreciated like the Sean Connery bond films in a way

Yeah, and the Sean Connery Bond films is a great comparison. I agree 100%.

That's the first thing that stands out to me in that scene is the music. The music instantly takes me right back to the 2000's.

It's interesting looking back at this movie now, and how at the time, this movie was next level shyt. But when you compare this movie to the action films of today and the MCU films of today, it's like night and day

I watched it last year, first time since it dropped, and thought it was fine. Both are still better than the recent one.
