I dont think this is a serious account btw, based on the name. Just curious if people have any opinions on headphones in the workplace.

If i believed in running a business I wouldnt allow it. Not because i think they are inherently bad. But its literally hit and miss imo. Some employees are more productive. Some want to have phone conversations all day. Some like to stop and do impromptu dancing while listening to music. Or rap a bunch of vulgar or "" lyrics outloud while im trying to work. Give me silence so i can mastermind this thing so we can go home on time

I think it depends on the job, the setting, etc. If the job is just crunching numbers all day with little to no interaction required with clients/colleagues, why not? If someone NEEDS to talk to you they will. It could indeed help people focus, especially in an open space situation. Maybe talk with the employee and see what his needs are too.

Notice that no one would have anything to say if a manager listens to music on his headphones in his office.

Shiiit nowadays it's encouraged if they know that lock-in from the headphones means more productivity...it's a Win-Win in my case, other cacs in my office wouldn't wanna hear DMX and Death Grips and I wouldn't wanna hear whatever droning on about whatever new fad restaruant ppl are stuffing their faces at or I can pretend to be in a meeting and give passersby the double tap on my ear and the
