Next Gen is not this year. Microsoft and Sony coming out and saying they are not talking next Gen this e3 pretty much confirmed that.

I think ssd prices are what's holding them back...i think they are both considering that next gen

They'd have to, what other choice do they have other then going purely digital or paying for their own disc format?

Theres no way they go back to dual layers, especially how games are getting bigger and bigger and with the Xbox on more discs.
