first of all: :lupe:

BUT...

he had no official videos/singles, marginal features, no radio play (? correct me if i'm wrong), no real build up as it was announced a month or so before it came out and it still came close to gold in 2 weeks. Can this really be considered a flop. if i did this shyt tomorrow, no one besides y'all nikkas and my hood would know about it....probably.

and let's look at the competition:
-jay made a deal to go platinum before his  came out
-j cole had to blow nas, t-boz, hov, and drake. plus get miguel's violent ass to do another single with him.
-shady didn't want it this quarter
-who the fukk is wale anyway?

on top of that, this was a modern 'traditional' sort of hiphop record. who else can see 400,000 of those off their name alone?:childplease:

this ain't about your opinion of the product itself but about the bidness side. can we really say this was a flop?

How can an album that is about to go gold be a flop, when modern day rappers are struggling to go platinum? Not a flop, we all know album sales aint what it used to be. I've been bumping the album since it came out - its different...not wack, but i can see why people are quick to bash it...we fear what we don't understand.

sometimes when you sell like crazy and then you don't do as well people see that as a flop. that's why i asked the question.
