Not a failure so much of Government, but the people who represented it. Basically Republicans started this shyt by inviting Evangelicals to get more votes, and then allowing Tax Cuts to make the rich richer. At the same time with financial inequality growing, their own people became more distrusting of Government.

A big shift was in 2010 when the Tea Party stuff happened, and it started to really go after Moderate Republicans and accepting Far Right.

Trump's election was a mixture of anger with Government itself, plus not wanting another Clinton in office, especially a Woman. Benghazi was a solid anchor for Trump to use against Hillary, plus Comey's fukk up as well.

Well with Trump himself, as a private citizen with money, he could easily afford and pressure people who didn't have wealth; just giving them a cut to avoid lawsuits. As public person though, Trump as president was cutting so many corners in public view, that it opened eyes.

Soon after, Trump was burning so many bridges and connections, that his destruction was providing so much evidence of how indebt Trump was. Now, while they didn't know everything, they had enough access to allow people to connect the dots.

When you want to hide evidence, you cut all loose threads.

Trump instead was cutting threads that were knotted with other live strings.
