Better question is why is the US allowing Iranian weapon caches in Iraq.

They've been there since after the invasion and the crazy period in the mid 2000s :heh: This is nothing new. Especially with the militias getting support from Iran.

Iran normally flies their weapons to Syria directly. Same with Lebanon to Hezbollah.

I’m well aware they’ve been there. That’s the point. Why are we okay with enemy weapon caches in Iraq? Which in turn begs the question of why we care that Israel destroyed said enemy caches. Outside of Israel interfering in our “war” in Iraq and violating air space, there’s really no cause for alarm seeing as they’re doing something the US should have done.

The Iraqis are OK with it, therefore we are OK with it. Plus, do we want to put US soldiers at risk again with Iranian funded militias doing guerilla war tactics all over again as a decade ago?

The invasion of Iraq opened this can of worms up. No invasion and we ain't talking about Iran having the most influence in Iraq.

Iraqi politicians are openly calling for all US forces to leave! They're flirting with buying Russian air defense systems.

Plot twist... nearly 3/4s of Syria is Sunni and most Kurds in Iraq, Syria and Turkey are Sunnis

That's not how genocide/ethnic cleansing works but yes lettuce keep our mouths shut till those percentages shift. The Kurds in Iraq are only safe because they have defacto state. I don't think Iran has ambitions on Turkey, Brah.

Iraq is mostly Shia though. Saddam Hussein ran a religiously moderate country with a mostly Sunni-minority government. This is another one of the fukk-ups of Bush invading Iraq; destabilizing the partisan balance of power.

Because those Iranian back Shia militia helped in the fight with ISIS. They are powerful and equipped. If you gonna disarm them Iraq would plunge into chaos and it would take a large US ground presence to stop them. Meanwhile Iran would create a Ho Chi Minh trail from Iraq to support a Shia insurgency in Iraq. US officials don’t want that.

The reason is because the chance of an escalation. Shia militias will likely target US soldiers and them we go down a rabbit hole with a war with Iran that no one not even the Pentagon wants.

Most Sunnis in Syria support Assad. The ones that rebel were the rural areas. The Syrian military is mostly Sunni Arab and they are from
the cities. The Sunni Arabs in Syria were never a unified block.
