After years of set backs & being dikked around Issa Rae finally has her series on HBO. The fabulous one (formerly a contributer of Black & Sexy TV) has her own series based off her ground breaking web series.

From what I see it seems to be the offical black woman's response to Girls (can't say for sure, I don't watch that shyt). What do y'all think? Grab you popcorn and stay with me excitedly waiting for this

Update:

The finale filming has wrapped:

Mayne I’m tearing up like I’m on set apart of production:mjcry:

that’s you. YOURE the voice in the back of my head.

Final edit:

—-five years. six months. and one day later—-

here are. we have just watched the finale. There are a number who didn’t care for it. Felt it was rushed & the pacing was off. Others loved it for what it was. Me? Oh come on you know I fukking loved every detail of it. Go to page idk 158 and see how I dikk ride issa making a blue print for other shows( agree with me or not it’s obvious they are.)

Most importantly:

thank you to everyone who came here over the years and have their thoughts and opinions of the series. Y’all comments have been great reads. Thank you for getting this pinned, most importantly thank you for keeping conversation going.

This is the official thread as opposed to just information on the show so I'll leave it alone.

As I said before I was ready to support the web series until I read that she ended up wenching with a Cac over a brotha so I never bothered. I do want to support more people of color being in charge of their own creative representations and output however I will NOT support the continued representation of black men as thugs, fags, or ambition-less lazy morons. Just look at the description for the male lead

Ellis plays Lawrence, Issa’s depressed and unemployed boyfriend who has been getting his act together for four years

:martin:

Again I'll check it out based upon wanting to support a black woman but if the black male turns out to another stereotype I'm out:camby:
