It bothers me the way these NFL owners/execs make these long term plans....

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
breh, I stated this in the OP. I don't know why ppl are regurgitating it back to me, unless they just didn't read it. I understand businesses make plans for the future.

But that's clearly not the main point of the discussion.
you're right... i guess it's the title and the first few paragraphs are all about the owner

if we wanna just take the part about creating a league.... it wouldn't fukking work

yea you have the money with the top players... but the bottom 45 of the roster ain't getting that... and they ain't about to give that little up, to put up money, to start a league

a league with no owners, no fan base, no tv deal, radio deal, stadiums, officials, tv crews, stadium workers, concession stands.... etc etc etc

there's so many fukking people that actually go to work and contribute to ONE day of nfl.... that league would be belly up before the first damn game.. not to mention the nfl would be behind the scenes sabotaging that shyt every which way with more money and power and influence

but in theory... great idea... i believe SAS asked some bball players about this during their almost strike.... all them nikkas said what i just said... they ain't about to put money up and try to go against the nba brand.. wouldn't work, plus only like 10% was super rich enough anyway

It's preferred that no black people play football at any level and the sport dies, I would like that. But, that ain't happening so just enjoy the superior athletic show. :yeshrug:

How is it any different from employees (of all colors) from a random company having to go through the same thing when the companies' executives plan a merger or acquisition?

It's life man. This thread is stupid as fukk

I'm sorry, it's hard to even engage in this topic when the new to-go to sound enlightened is to examine the racial implications of everything without proper historical context.

It's like "white male employer + black employee = slavery."

You can cook, but, this is low hanging fruit that poisons actual discourse and solution building on real racial issues.
Good post

I'm not sure what you're getting at...

Every business operates under the presumption that it will still be operating in the foreseeable future and plans accordingly...

And no, the NFL players won't ever be able to make their own league. 70% of NBA players go broke within 5 years of retirement. I'm sure the NFL stats are in the same neighborhood.

I'm to believe dudes who can't even manage 8 figure contracts for a few months in a lockout can somehow build a multi-billion dollar enterprise??

:mjlol:

These aren't highly educated Rhode Scholar African Americans we're talking about. These are guys that usually struggle to meet academic standards and take bullshyt paper classes so they can play on Saturday. A grip of them have to go to JuCo just to get into D1 programs.

The young men that are capable of building the type of enterprise that is the NFL are in business and economics. They're not strapping on pads and helmets to play on Sunday and shorten their lifespan.
Great post

Can we just all come to the reality that these owners aren't making billions from owning an NFL team?

these owners are making MAYBE 100 million...maybe. But probably not even that.
these guys are already billionaires and are using team ownership as some kind of trophy to membership in to the big boys club.

its more about bragging rights to other billionaires than it is about making money.
There are far more ways to make money then owning a team.

Not race baiting.

But You can't simply separate race from the way things the power structure is set up.:stopitslime: And the hell do a few white QBs have to do with anything?

Take Brady and Manning etc out the NFL....it survives. Take away the black players, does it still survive?

I'm pretty sure I specifically stated I don't think the NFL is racist or has a slave mentality.

I guess you ignored it or either didn't read that far.

But nonetheless, the way its setup leads to the help having all the power, yet simultaneously none of the power.

You know good and well there's a difference.

Or maybe you don't :mjpls:

Just because something is all-white doesn't automatically mean it's racist. But it doesn't mean it's not either......and therefore it's worthy of discussion.

I'm not suggesting the NFL or it's owners are racist or have a slave mentality, but it's just the way the hierachy of power is set-up. And, to these eyes, it just looks bad.
:francis: it's actually more racist than I thought.

Black athletes are 99.9999% the reason the NFL machine operates, but have 0% of the power. :snoop::why:
:francis:

It's like I said, the Black NFL athlete simultaneously has ALL and NONE of the power.

The players and the leadership in the union are too spineless and shortsighted to make effective change as currently constructed.

If the players were to band together, take the long game and be prepared to sit out a minimum of two seasons to get a favorable deal hammered out you would see what could change...

but trust me there is always one stupid indisciplined motherfukker who will get in the press and say something like "he is just anxious to get back to hitting someone on the field"........and you know what some dumb motherfukkers on the coli will agree with them

the NFL cant change unless THE PLAYERS PUT THEMSELVES ON THE LINE TO GET A BETTER DEAL
