Who of the new class was close? Lesnar was never going to stay 10+ years, Batista was old, Orton was a fukk up, Angle would be dead by now, and the majority of the others lacked the charisma and/or skills to be the man.... Only recently (Punk/Bryan) have they had true alternatives (i.e. Rock to Austin or Savage to Hogan) where they could have supplanted him as #1
Punk and Bryan are living proof how the WWE has dropped the ball in the past 12 years or so. They never wanted Punk to succeed and Daniel Bryan was too small. Both guys had to force their way in and that brought about the change in starting to build new stars. Vince has basically been in booking autopilot since the MNW ended. So Cena became the guy and he basically said build heels around him.

Completely agreed. I think Punk is the biggest dropped ball since the Invasion angle. Dude was getting coverage in the mainstream purely for the wrestling angle he was in and they fukked it up with Kevin Nash :heh:

Cena is for the youth. He is the Hogan of this era, deal with it. :umad:

Cena has outlasted Hogan tho.

Hogan was the man from WM3 to about WM9...then he went to WCW.

Cena won the belt in 05 and has been the main guy ever since.

:wtf: Hogan was on top for like 20 years. WTF you mean "...then he went to WCW" :wtf:

Then he went to WCW and formed the greatest stable of all time and became one of the greatest heels of all time :dahell:

breh, he was talking about Cena being for the kids and how Cena is the new Hogan in that regards.

And that's what I'm talking about.

They had Orton and Batista to fall back on along wit a mix of Angle/Lesnar/Hardy/Edge/Sheamus/Punk/Bryan/Del Rio thru the years so they'd prolly still be pretty much where they are now (except maybe not be PG:patrice:).
