It seems like 95% of you nikkas work in IT, yet there's no collaboration/no camaraderie here

that's when i knew this IT shyt was real. survival of the fittest
You still have tons of people who've been faking it for decades in IT jobs. They usually don't get exposed unless new management gets hired or the place gets hacked. I used to like exposing these clowns but most aren't worth the time wasted.

Worse than that is people dumber than rocks sabotaging anyone who might expose the fact their unqualified for their jobs. I've had people refuse to grant me rights to systems. Or even the data center so I won't expose their shytty work. I usually quit after a few months when upper management refuses to do anything about it. The good news is hackers are exposing these dumps way better than I could have done.
Exactly this. It's why I love and hate working in an environment with multiple teams and separation of duties. So many people are judt collecting a check. Which is fine cause if I was in a position to do the same for my people I would. But don't put them in charge of something that they have no idea how to manage and then ask me to work with them:what:

Tons of behind the scenes collaboration stuff and networking here. People not out here announcing them because it attracts the wrong people and attention involving real life business ventures.

Not everyone here is just doing shyt for daps.

This. I want to put other brehs on but I tend to be more reserved with the info I give for this exact reason. Dont wanna attract the wrong type of people

Outside of the IT thread, I had to make my own path and figure out my own strategy for success, and grind grind grind. I'm labbing every chance as much as I can within reason, making my own vision boards to keep me motivated, and always keeping my eye out for in-demand skills and opportunities that I can parlay into even greater opportunities . I adopted an obsessive relentless mindset in regards to achieving my goals. Something I run into alot is washed up oldhead techs who have been stuck at helpdesk for decades who have no desire or ambition. I cant stand being around them. and I keep my achievements and plans to myself because I know they'll try to sabotage me to preserve their spot when Aiming above their spot. It's been a lonely road but Ive adapted to being my own motivation. All I need to do is build up a solid professional network to make the job search easier, becacue im lookin for recruiters and talent acquisition people that are seeking linux professionals in the DFW area and I'll be good

Unfortunately at my company its all ages. And what's worst is they don't even want to learn they just want someone to either tell them how to do it or do it for them.
