It seems like all of these “hip hop” podcasts only talk about old shyt.

I mean.....can you blame them?

Who besides Tik Tok watching Zoomers is even unironically interested in these newer acts like Lil Baby, Youngboy, Rod Wave, Ken Carson, etc.?

Most of those podcasts you're bringing up are from a different era so it makes sense that they'll be more biased towards legacy acts or older rappers.

Meanwhile, Gen Z rappers literally have to compete with streamers like Kai Cenet and Showspeed for relevance and they're lowkey getting outshined by them. And young podcasters themselves don't seem very invested in the newer acts outside of f*ckery.

you old as dirt too... what's the problem?

but I recommend Rob Markman, this is not a podcast though. just his thoughts.
on new releases and other current stories.

maybe it's a difference between listening to the artist and hangerons v listening to an actual storyteller

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
There aren't any gatekeepers anymore. Who in 2025 is trying to get in the game and can't get in?

There’s no culture. It seems like the music is just a hobby.

Memphis Bleek just dropped an album and all he does on this “promo” tour is talk about Jay Z and circa 2001 every other statement :scusthov: ain’t nobody trying to hear that shyt.

I noticed that about Bleeks promo tour. It's literally just people asking Jay related stuff and him answering because it's the closest they'll get to Jay answering himself.

Music is just being used as a gateway to do other things now because the goal is just to be famous. People say that Cardi B is scared to drop another album but the truth is that she doesn't have to. She used it to become famous. The artform and culture are just being used as a tool and stepping stone to fame. People dropping one hot song.....then become vloggers and tik tok personalities. Ass backwards
