:patrice:Breh this been the dawn of age. I remember folks rocking Dragon Ball Z button ups and shyt when I was in school. Its just the "cool" thing to be a weeb.

I could never understand anime. Outside a few like 91 Days, Pop Team Epic, the old jawns from the 80s, and JoJo Bizarre....anime fukking sucks nowadays :scust:

Brehs always watched anime and read comics but were not nerds about it like going to conventions and cosplaying

that's the difference in this era. people make it an identity instead of a passtime
Rep this men

They use it as a side-block to embrace their latent white tendencies.

This is something I've noticed since around 2018 as well, not just among Black men/women under 30, but all other races as well.

I'm not into it, and I don't knock people are, but I'm curious as to what was the catalyst that sparked the sudden popularity of anime and manga in America :jbhmm:

I think the shift started slowly during my senior year of high school. There were a lot of kids at my school that liked anime, but at this point people who watched anime were still considered nerds.

I watched anime as a kid, so I have nostalgia for it, but I don't have the patience to watch it as an adult.

Engaging with a community isn't bad, attending panels, getting books signed, is totally fine if it's a passion shouldn't put people down for having a hobby. Cosplay is a step too far.
