Pac will always come to mind.
He was progressing rapidaly and selling more with each album. His content changed amazingly.
It seems now after his unfortunate passing, the songs in his catalog that are the most popular are his most introspective, uplifting, real tracks. He was more than just a rapper.
I still remember watching MTV news when they announced he died me and my older sister were watching it...we were so shocked and sad...
we were bumping All Eyez on Me damn near everyday that summer...when the news got out he passed after the vegas shooting we were all in disbelief.
Some people say that him aligning with gangs set him back, but looking back now he was trying to build momentum and stack up a clique to match his fire.
We can talk about Orlando Jones and Diddy and Suge til our lungs out out...Him and Suge were looking to start Makaveli records.
I really do believe that if Pac lived he would of been seen as a major problem beyond the entertainment industry.
He had connections to Farakhan, The Black Panthers, he had the JDL on his ass (the only other artist who had them on their tail was MJ), he was in movies, he had multiplatinum singles, was on MTV.
Y'all youngings don't even know how prevalent Pac was and his legacy!
I fukking miss that man!
