Every man's goal at the end of the day is to provide value to the world. It's literally what we were wired to do. A man being able to get multiple women is revered in every culture on the planet (the value is he is providing more future people to his society through sex). A man being rich is revered in every culture (the value he's providing is he can stimulate the economy of his society and can provide more safety to his friends and family). A muscular man is revered in every culture (the value is he gives off the feeling that he can protect his significant other better than an out of shape man or more likely to be a successful soldier in a war). The idea of a man's job is to somehow provide value is as old as time.
A well respected king in ancient times going to war and expanding his empire through violence is a tale we've all have heard. They were respected because they gave young men someone to admire and look up to. Older people would be more comfortable because they would feel more protected knowing they belonged to the most powerful empire in their part of the world. Children and women felt more comfortable because they didn't have to worry about possibly being invaded and killed or sold into slavery. Grown men admired them because going to war gave their life some type of meaning and gave them something to do. These kings/conquerors provided value to their society.
Most men that you see today that don't feel like they're respected is due to the fact that they subconsciously feel like they haven't provided value to their society. As a man both men and women aren't going to pity you. If a woman feels invalidated most men will try to be more nice to her and most women will be on some "you go girl!!" type of shyt. See "fat shaming" or how viciously women attack men when a man has preferences. A incel for example or a broke man gets shytted on pretty much equally by both genders with no punches pulled. The lack of empathy men get is one of our main drivers that forces males to naturally take more risks that can either lead to massive success (or failure), be more naturally curious (exploring for example), more willing to get violent to earn respect and power (think of the cartels in Mexico, Shaka Zulu or a Putin invading Ukraine), and most importantly more likely to be successful due to our natural drive to want to provide value.
Started rambling again not sure if I answered what you were looking for op lol
