Every other song is about making and spending money, being a thot/prostitute, being a drug dealer, being a scammer, being a pimp, and generally just being morally decrepit disgusting fukking human being.

Capitalism corrupts the human spirit and makes us hallow individuals.
fukk capitalism.

Where do you guys think rap would be without capitalism? Where would the culture be? If we lived in a society that wasn't driven by profit?

a real artist can make anything beautiful and appealing, even consumerism......the subject matter isnt the problem, the problem is a lack of real artistry and people who understand SOUND

music/the "music industry" doesnt exist....its an illusion, only sound exists. its just sound

Nothing new. Hip hop purists/bboys/DJs been saying this since the 80s.

Ever since Sugar Hill Gang performed Rappers Delight on them 80s dance shows.

It was over right there.

The white suits saw hip hop as profitable. Since then, mainstream Hip Hop has reached its final form since when the OGs predicted this was going to happen.

I told the old heads, getting rid of Public Enemy from Hip Hop history and from classic radio playlists will pay for it generations on end.

Went from "Fight the Power" to being self centered.

U dont think Flav doing that reality show didnt do damage tho? I'll never forget my son being a little kid and I said "Maaan u dont know who Flavor Flav is" and he replied "He's a pimp" And why did he say that? Because Flavor Of Love was real popular at the time and thats what my son knew. Thats the image Flav gave to the next generation....Of course I had to correct him but the imprint was already there. The harsh reality that when the royalty checks aint coming in like they used to you gonna do reality TV. Capitalism really stood out on that one because we all knew Flav was really doing it to take care of his kids.....Thats the reality we had to see compared to what PE was actually talking about. Professor Griff expressed hated that show because It was sad to watch. But Flav needed that money and PE royalty checks werent cutting it.

I remember when Flav was getting arrested in the early 90's for crack...I felt that was an epidemic and PEs rep is still salvageable. But that Flavor Of Love was a different monster. Da Band and Flavor Of Love set the pace for the ratchet reality tv era thats popular today. That was Flavs last big contribution to pop culture.
