Your outside appearance is a reflection of your internal processes. Your internal processes cannot simultaneously be doing linear algebra and circuit design while your outside is looking like those two rejects.



The only exception ive seen is the dishelved nutty professor look, but ive only seen this applied to those distinguished professor's who had so much energy exerted to their various papers that they literally had none left for their wardrobe.

I don't really think locs, beard and other hairstyles is the issue but how you overall represent yourself. So being well dressed (like an adult should) in your situation will compensate for alot. Sadly many brehs don't know the value of self-image and instead want to be ''real''. They would be amased of how different people threat you when you are well-dressed and representable. Staff treat you better, people you pass by smile, greet etc. People don't bother you, and you are just doing your own thing.

Very true, no STEM breh have that appearance, which says alot about your character, and these characters aren't going to STEM. Even If they did, they would find it hard to find a job. Imagine your doctor coming out looking like that...
