It's arguable that Foley had as good of a 1998 as Stone Cold

Not business-wise(t-shirts, merch etc) obviously, but career wise for sure.

Think about it.

Started the year off returning to Cactus Jack character and teaming up with Funk. Competed in the Royal Rumble THREE times in one night as Mankind, Cactus, Dude Love.

Then you had the Dude Love\Austin feud, which was better than it had any right to be.

A few weeks after their last mstch, outta nowhere he ascends to god status at KOTR after flying off and thru the cage.

Then be began to get more mic time and became a more personable & jovial Mankind that people liked. By the 4th quarter he was competing for the title, involed in main angles with Vince, and then just a few days into 1999, he beats Rock for the title as a major face.

If you'd said on Jan 1st 1998, that in 1 yr Cactus Jack would've been the 2nd most over guy in the company and the world champ, nobody would've believed you.

You saw it coming with Austin in 97, but not at all with Foley

Decent analysis :ehh:

History has been rewritten with the Hell in a Cell match though - it's presented like it catapulted him to the main event, when in reality all that happened after that was he tagged with Kane over the summer and won the tag title belts. The real main event push started was when he made Mankind a face, and the whole debut of Mr Socko when Vince was in hospital

Mick Foley has always been, and always will be, a crazy motherfukker

:salute:

why is a 300 pound man in flannel setting the high flying standards for the Hardys/Edges & Christians of the world? :patrice:

Oh right, Vince(s) were throwing dudes off of scaffolding left and right to bury New Jack/ECW competition :francis:
